Spanish Volunteer Opportunity: Te Cuento Un Cuento program

On Monday, October 12th, I had the opportunity to tutor kids and help with activities in Te Cuento un Cuento Bilingual Children's Program. This Monday we discussed strength and confidence by reading a Spanish book about a kid and their crown. A fun and welcoming environment is always present, making the kids joyful to be there and excited to learn. Not only are they learning, but having the parents present, provides them with knowledge on how to raise a kid on multiple cultures to ensure they are appreciated equally. I love volunteering for Te Cuento Un Cuento, all the kids and their energy never fails to make me smile and laugh!

Spanish Volunteer Opportunity: Te Cuento Un Cuento program

On Monday, October 5th, I partcipated in Te Cuento Un Cuento, where we had the opportunity to teach bilingual children about their culture and certain foods. We read a Spanish book that discussed about common desserts and then created an interactive activity to unleash their creativity. They got to create their own deserts based from the book to learn more about their specific country's foods. I truly enjoyed seeing the kids learn more about the countries where their families originated from. The snacks provided at the end of the volunteer, allows them to envision what these deserts from their culture taste like. They light up with joy when they get to try foods they have never had before or even knew they existed. Learning more about their culture early on can help them retain their culture as they grow in a different environment!
